PARSONS William M. C. Parsons, of Shade Valley, passed out of this life at 12:40 P.M. on Saturday, March 29 at the home of his widowed daughter, Irene Morgan, widow of Emory Morgan, who died at his home in Black Log Valley last winter. If Mr. Parsons had lived until this coming second of May, he would have been 71 years of age. On September 3, 1928 he lost his faithful wife Mary Jane Parsons, by death, and, of course at his age he missed her sadly. In fact, the decline of his health dates from that time. About six or eight weeks previous to his demise his condition became more serious until his death. He had spent a great deal of time among his children, but his last days were spent at his own home in Shade Valley where his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shoop lived with him. However, about a week prior to his death he went over to Blacklog to pass his few remaining days with his daughter there, where he expressed himself as being ready to go. He was a man who lived the life of a tranquil philosopher and the cares of his life cannot be said to have borne too heavy upon him. The funeral, which took place April first, was in charge of Mortician Blatt of Mount Union. A short service was held at the home in Blacklog and then his body was conveyed to Salem U. B. church in Shade Valley where he was a member. The services were in charge of the minister, Rev. S. J. Wilson, but the sermon was preached by Rev. E. E. Dunkelberger, the former pastor, and was a solemn warning to unrepentant sinners and the careless in this life. Together with Rev. Wilson, they rendered several fine duets and the service was throughout impressive and inspiring. The deceased is most sincerely mourned by his children, who were all present and many grandchildren, also his two remaining sisters, Mrs. Jennie Varner of Orbisonia, and Mrs. Annie Smith of Tuscarora Valley, who was present with her son, Guy Smith of Mount Union. He has one brother remaining, Jack Parsons of Allenport. His remains were laid away beside his wife in Salem Cemetery, followed by a concourse of relatives, neighbors, and friends, who knew him. Rest then in peace. -A Friend clipping Additional Comments: Known as Buffalo. Wife Mary Jane Miller Parsons was a daughter of J. Peter & Margaret (Schneider) Miller.
