Peterson, 81, of Ambler died on May 21, at the Artman Lutheran Home. Funeral service was at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave., Ambler, on May 24, with Rev. William J. Kemp officiating and interment was Whitemarsh Memorial Park. He born on December 8, 1926, Allenport, Shirley Township, Mount Union. He was the son of the late R. Dean Sr. and Violet (Reck- Culbertson) Peterson. He was the husband of Lois (Emerich) Peterson and she still survives. Mr. Peterson has the following children: Bruce E. Peterson and wife, Phyllis of New Orleans, LA; Craig D. Peterson and wife, Judy of Woodbridge, VA and Wendy P. Flickinger and husband Ed of Cary, NC. Three grandchildren: Sarah F. Winberley; Caroline A. Peterson and James E. Flickinger. Also seven nieces and nephews and seven grandnieces and nephews. Also mention "special family" Bud and Mary Jane Wahl and family; Nancy (Scotti) and Skip Kershner and family and Angela F. Pieggi. He is survived by one sister, Genevieve C. Cutshall of Harrisburg and one brother, R. Dean Peterson, Jr. and wife Winnieof Harrisburg. Mr. Peterson attended Mount Union High School, Class of 1944; Penn State University with Assoc. Engineering. Air conditioning and refrigeration training program, Frick Company Waynesboro. He was employed by A&P Dairy, Ft. Washington (1965-68) and E. B. O'Reilly Servicing Corp. Chestnut Hill, Phila. (1969-1996). Mr. Peterson was in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve in WWII Korea. He was a Fleet Radio Operator. Earned three battle stars (for Leyte and Lingayen Gulf in the Philippines and for Okinawa. In Korea he earned special Unit Citation from Korea Gov't. He was a member First Presbyterian Church of Ambler. Mr. Peterson was a life member of American Legion, Simpson Hunt Post 0107, in Mount Union; USS Casa Grande LSD-13 Reunion Association; SAAC of Ambler; AARP; past member of Park Avenue Civic Association, part of original creating team of Knight Playground and past treasurer of Ambler Recreation Board.
