Cora C. "Maw" Peterson, 94, formerly of Shirleysburg but for the last nine 
years a resident of the Huntingdon County Nursing Home died at 9:25 a.m. 
Yesterday, Dec. 4, 1987 at the home.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1893 in Nossville, the daughter of Amos and Mary 
(Shearer) Jones. She was twice married, first to Robert Campbell, who preceded 
her in death, and then to Don Peterson on June 28, 1933. Mr. Peterson died on 
Jan. 14, 1950.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by five stepchildren: Mrs. Irene Grove of Mount 
Union; Mrs. Verna Fogle of Shirleysburg, R.D.; Mrs. Arthur (Alma) Holllibaugh, 
Rockhill Furnace; Mrs. Vic (Irma) Ancona, New Rochelle, N.Y.; and Jacob 
Peterson of Bellefonte. She also leaves 25 grandchildren, 60 great-
grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Violet R. Daughenbaugh and Mary M. 
Scott, and one grandson.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by 
three brothers - Robert, Sherman and Paul - and two sisters, Bertha and Elsie.

She was a member of the Shirleysburg United Methodist Church, where she 
belonged to the church board, the ladies aid society and the women's society.

Mrs. Peterson was a housewife and farmer by profession.
