Mrs. William Poppei of Alexandria died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at her home from influenza-pneumonia, the woman following her husband closely in death, he having succumbed to pneumonia last Saturday. The couple leave two small children, both of whom have been removed to the Blair Memorial hospital in Huntingdon suffering with the influenza. Neither Mr. or Mrs. Poppei have any relatives in this country. The wife who was aged 32, is survived by her mother, who lives in a suburb of London, England. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Thursday Morning, November 7, 1918 POPPEI Mrs. Clara Poppei, wife of William Poppei, died at her home on Seventh street, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from the effects of Spanish influenza; she having died just three days after her husband, whose death is also noted at this time. Mrs. Poppei was born in England, and was aged at time of death about 33 years. She is survived by three small children, who mourn the loss of both parents. Two of these are in the hospital at the present time with the same disease, while the other is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly of 701 Seventh street. The funeral cortege departed on Wednesday for Alexandria, where services were conducted and interment made. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, November 9, 1918
