When we announced in these colum* last week that Alexander Port, jr., wass* abed we little thought that we would s* have the sad duty to perform of chr* icling his death, which occurred at * residence, on Seventh street, at 5 o'clo* on Friday morning. Mr. Port was t* picture of health, and from appearan* bid fair to be spared many years, * about four weeks ago he was seized w* catarrhal and stomach trouble whi* baffling the efforts of skillful physician* and careful nursing, resulted in * death at the time stated. He was o* jovial disposition, kind hearted a* courteous, and his death is regretted * a large circle of friends and acquaint* ces. He was the youngest son of M* and Mrs. James Port, and at the time * his death was 33 years of age, the d* previous to his death having been * birthday. Those left to mourn his ea* death are his wife, his parents, th* brothers and two sisters, who have * sympathy of the entire community * their hour of sorrow.
