Vernon L. Porter of Mooresville died suddenly at his home Saturday evening, 
July 20, 1946, at ten o’clock.  He had been in failing health for the past two 
years.
He was born on April 29, 1885 at Mooresville, the son of David and Adrian 
(Hutchison) Porter.  At the time of death he was aged sixty-one years, two 
months and twenty-two days.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Bilger Porter, two sons, Wesley of 
Huntingdon and Charles at home, and one brother, LeRoy of State College.  Two 
grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Porter was a member of the Mooresville Methodist Church, the Official 
Board of the Church, the Shavers Creek Grange and was president of the 
Cemetery Board at Mooresville.  He was a life long resident of Mooresville and 
had operated a general store for thirty-one years until he retired three years 
ago.
Funeral service will be held at the Mooresville Methodist Church Wednesday 
morning at 10:30 o’clock.  The Rev. Paul R. Myers will officiate and interment 
will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.  Friends may call at the home.  Temple 
Funeral service.
