Bower Price, for many years one of Mount Union's business men and the father of C. S. Price of this place, died in the Clearfield hospital, Tuesday morning, after an illness covering two years, caused by a complication of diseases. Mr. Price had gone to the Clearfield hospital for treatment about one week previous to his death. Bower Price, as familiarly known around Mount Union was born in Hill Valley, Oct. 1, 1858. His early life until 7 years old was spent in this section. He spent five years with George Sechrist near Orbisonia and returned to Hill Valley afterwards where he made his home with his step-father, H. E. Hooper. Mr. Price was twice married. The first time to Miss Laura E. Rhodes and to this union three children were born. The second time after his wife's death to Miss Alice Wogan, July 23, 1908. This wife died two years ago at this place. Mr. Price has always been an energetic man, interested largely in purchasing and cutting timber and was an authority on any question on forestry. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving are the three children: Ada, Mrs. Ray sellers; Olive, Mrs. Houston Painter, both of Altoona and C. S. Price of Mount Union. The body will be brought to Mount Union for interment but no arrangements have yet been made for the funeral or interment, which will be at this place. Transcribers Notes: This is from a Mt. Union area newspaper. I am not related to this family but this person was a contemporary of my great grandfather, David Newton Palmer. I found several newspaper obits in an old family bible. The obit has been transcribed exactly as the newspaper clipping was printed. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
