He was a retired employe of the Rockhill Furnace Coal and Iron company, for which he worked for 46 years. Mr. Pyles was born in Franklin, county Oct. 10, 1872, a son of Sylvester and Elizabeth (Bealman) Pyles. He was twice married. His first wife, Jemina Detwiler Pyles, died Oct. 3, 1925. He later married Emily Mae Daughenbaugh. Surviving are his wife and these children to the first union: Harry M. of Rockhill Furnace, Lincoln E. of Altoona, Ivan H. of Ontario, Calif., Mrs. Carl Hiles of Orbisonia, Kestler L. of Mount Union and Mrs. Cecil Bard of Rockhill Furnace; 11 grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Alvey Pyles of Shirleysburg, Mrs. Hugh Galbraith of Altoona and Mrs. William James and Roy Pyles of Rockhill Furnace. Mr. Pyles was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church of Orbisonia. Friends will be received at the home until 11 o'clock Saturday morning.
