Donna Katharine Reed, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Reed, of 
Petersburg, died in the J. C. Blair Memorial hospital Sunday, December 31, 
1939, from the result of burns which she received when she fell into a tub
of scalding water at her home.  The accident occurred Thursday afternoon, 
December 28. The child was taken to the hospital, where everything possible was 
done to save her life, but death came about 3:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
She was born in Petersburg, June 9, 1934, hence, was aged at the time of death 
5 years, six months and twenty-two days. She was the only daughter of Theodore 
Reed and Rosanna (Edmiston) Reed.
She attended the Lutheran Sunday school in Petersburg.
Surviving are the parents and one brother, Charles, at home.
Friends may call at the home of her grandfather, Charles Edmiston, Petersburg, 
on Tuesday, January 2, from 6 to 9 p. m.  Funeral services will  be held at the 
Edmiston home on Wednesday, January 3, at 3 p. m., conducted by the Rev. 
Charles Stong.  Interment will be made in Cedar Grove cemetery, in charge of
Temple's funeral service.
