He was born in Saltillo on January 25, 1871, the son of Thomas and Christina (Wagner) Rhodes. He was thrice married. His first wife, the former Bertha Foor, died in 1908. His second wife, the former Ruth Foor, died in 1919. He married Cleo Brenneman on January 17, 1936, in Marklesburg. His wife and these children are surviving: Grant Rhodes, Sebring, Florida.; Mrs. Jane Conway; Karthus; Albert and Cloyd Rhodes, Aiten; Charles Rhodes, Philadelphia; Mrs. Alice Delancey, Altoona; Alton Rhodes, Huntingdon; George Rhodes, Baltimore, Maryland.; Mrs. Grace Weist, Everett; and Dallas and Ralph Rhodes, at home. Other survivors include: two step-children, Mrs. Olive Ritchey of Altoona and Donald Grove, at home; four brothers and three sisters, Harvey Rhodes of Saltillo, Charles Rhodes of Mount Union; Jess and Raymond Rhodes, Mrs. Mary Kauffman and Mrs. Annie Walton of Altoona and Mrs. Ethel Hite of Salona; 49 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Brumbaugh's Crossing. In early days, he belonged to the Ray's Cove Christian Church in Bedford County. By occupation Mr. Rhodes was a farmer. The funeral service will be held in the Ray's Cove Christian Church, Bedford County, Pa., at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Reverend Coy Foor will officiate. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
