Ruby, 78, of 15795 Hares Valley Road, Mapleton Depot, went home to be with the Lord at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, March 28, at his home. The funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 1, at the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Connie officiating. Interment was made Cornelius Chapel Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. He was born on February 19, 1930, in Huntingdon and the son of the late Elmer Ruby and Hazel (Bowman) Ruby, who resided in Carlisle, formerly of Mapleton Depot. He was married Ila J. (Long) Ruby on July 23, 1951. She preceded him in death on December 11, 1995. His second marriage was to Shelby J. (Powell) Fraker Ruby on October 4 1997. His wife survives at their home. Mr. Ruby is survived by two children: Larry D. Ruby and wife, Jodee of Hares Valley, Mapleton Depot and Susan Bickel and companion Dave Horn of Polecat Hollow, Mapleton Depot. The following stepchildren survive: Karen D. Geissinger and companion John Hocker of Mount Union; Douglas S. Fraker and companion, Jane Stallman of Hustontown; Brian H. Fraker and wife, Missy of Vermont; Jamie R. Wible and husband, Russell of Three Springs and Russell E. Fraker and wife, Tammy of Willow Hill. There are three grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren surviving. Also surviving is a sister: Wanda Bowers and husband, John of Carlisle. An infant sister, Barbara Jane Ruby, preceded him in death. Mr. Ruby was a graduate of Saltillo High School, Class of 1948. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict, with an enlistment from March of 1951 until February of 1957. He had been a truck driver for Roadway Express, retiring in 1992, with 17 years of service. Prior to this, he had been employed as a superintendent at Reves-Parvin, Huntingdon. Mr. Ruby was a member of F&AM Lodge #688 Mount Union. He was also a member of the Jacks Mountain Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed woodworking and tending to his flowers. He was a member of the Beech Run Church of the Brethren.
