Schneider, 81, 519 Oneida St., Huntingdon, died at 9:55 a.m., yesterday, Friday, May 2, 1986 at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. He had been ill for the past four years and he had been residing at Garvey Manor since April 11. He was born Sept. 14, 1904, at Huntingdon, the son of J. Fred and Mary E. (Trimer) Schneider. He was united in marriage to Dorothy R. Yahner on Sept. 12, 1933 at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, the Rev. Father Kane performing the ceremony. His wife survives at home. Mr. Schneider is survived by three children: Daniel J. and Mary Schneider, both of Huntingdon, and Mrs. Marjorie Kean, Collary, Australia. Robert B. Ergler, who was raised in the Schneider home, resides in Pittsburgh. Also surviving are four grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Fisher, Huntingdon, and a brother, Francis J., Temple City, Cal. One son, David Jerome "Jerry" Schneider, preceded him in death. Mr. Schneider was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Huntingdon, the Knights of Saint George, the Knights of Columbus, the Huntingdon Lodge of the loyal Order of Moose and the Mead Retirees. He began his employment at the Pennsylvania Railroad shops at Altoona as an apprentice machinist, rising eventually to the position of master machinist. He then worked for Westinghouse Electric Co., Pittsburgh, returning to Huntingdon in 1930 and beginning his employment with the J. C. Blair Co. as a machinist. He retired as foreman of the machine shop of Mead Corp. in 1969. Mr. Schneider was educated in the Huntingdon public schools, graduating from Huntingdon High School in the class of 1922. Most of his life had been spent in Huntingdon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, from the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Rev. Father David Arsenault serving as celebrant. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, after 7 p.m. tomorrow and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. The recitation of the Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. tomorrow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions should send their gifts to the American Cancer Society, Huntingdon County Unit, 4 West Market St., Mount Union, or to the Central Pennsylvania Kidney Association, Altoona.
