He was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Snake Spring Township, Bedford County, and was reared in Saxton. the son of the late Charles and Mary Catherine (Noel) Brumbaugh He is survived by a sister, Nancy Brumbaugh of Altoona, and a sister-in-law ,Joanne Brumbaugh of Broad Top City. He was proceded in death by four brother; Raymond Brumbaugh, Robert Brumbaugh, Charles Brumbaugh and David Brumbaugh. Mr. Brumbaugh attended Brethern in Christ Church, Saxton, Interment in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton. Effie M. CHILCOTE, 88, of Rockhill Furnace, died Aug 31, 2003 at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Sept 5, 1914, in Tell Township Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late George and M. Effie (Greagor) McMullen. She was united in marriage to Herman "Pease" Chilcote who proceded her in death July 8, 1988. She is survived by 10 children Alma Helmuth of Fort Littleton, Dolly Mann of Green Lane, Eugene Chilcote of Chambersburg, J. Boyd Chilcote of Mount Union, Wendell Chilcote of Mechanicsburg, Jane Lauder of Mifflin, Robert Chilcote of Rockhill Furnace Mary McElrath of Orbisonia, Beverly Stricker of Thompsontown and Randall ehilcote of Orbisonia; one stepson, Richard Chilcote of GreenCastle; 23 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. Four sisters survive Dessie Gray of Blain, Ellen Taylor of Mattawanna, Maxine Smith of Mount Union and Louise Hoover of Newburg. She was proceded in death by two step­sons, nine brothers and one sister. Mrs. Chilcote was a member of the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap. She was primarily a homemaker Internment in Salem Cemetery, Blair Mills. Agnes E. GATES, 94, of Huntingdon Manor, formerly resident of the Shirley Home for the Aged in Shirleysburg and of Little Valley, died Aug 30, 2003. Born Jan. 18, 1909 in East Providence Township, Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late James Elliot and Florence (Mellot) Kauffman. She was united in marriage to Chester Gates who proceded her in death She is survived by one son, Harold C. Gates Sr. and his wife, Audrey H. of Saxton; two granddaughters, E. Elizabeth Gates of Saxton, and Shirley A. Gates and her husband Michael Shea of Shenandoah; 11 great-grandchildren 16 great-great-grandchildren; and on great-great-great-grandsbn. She was proceded in death by two grandchildren, Harold C. Gates Jr. and Marie A. Dziob,and one great-grandson, She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Buchko. Mrs. Gates was of the Protestant faith. She was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed raising geese, ducks and guineas and also enjoyed gardening. Internment in Langdondale Cemetery, Hopewell. Thelma Blanche MURPHY, 83, formerly of Shade Gap, died Aug. 30, 2003 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born May 15, 1920 in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Rena (Secrest) Whitsel. She was united in marriage to Dean L. Murphy March 15, 1944. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death May 12, 1995. She is survived by two sons ,and two daughters, Gary Murphy, Linda Mills, Carol Doyle and Randall Murphy Sr., all of Shade Gap; 10 granchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three infant brothers and four sisters, Marie Whitsel, Verna Crotsley, Ruth Smith and Mildred Jaymes. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethern, Mount Union. She was primarily a homemaker. Internment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap. Robert Allen HERMAN, 8l, of Huntingdon died Sept. 2, 2003 at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. He was born Jan 8, 1922, at the family home in Huntingdon, the son of the late Myron S. Herman and Susan (Fritchey) Herman-Brown. He was untied in marriage to Silda May Fleegal July 17, 1942 in Winchester, VA. He is survived by his wife at home; a son, R. Michael Herman, and his wife, Sally, of Westminster, Md., three daugheters, Mrs. Roy (Judy) Beck of Huntingdon, Mrs. Gary (Sue Ann) Reiter of North Hunting­don and Mrs. Dave (Chris) Querry of Huntingdon; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Clara) Bass of Los Angeles Calif., and Ethel Bloom of East Mckeesport. and a brother, Harold Herman of Washington D.C. survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Herman and Richard Herman. Mr. Herman was a member of the 15th street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. He was a member of Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, Hunting don; BPO Elks Lodge No. 976; Huntingdon; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223 Huntingdon; Standing Stone Golf Course; and Diamond Lodge and River Hill hunting camps. Mr. Herman was a 1939 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He entered the United States Navy Sept. 1, 1942, and was discharged Sept. 25 1945, having attained the ranlc of gunner's mate, second class. He retired in 1983 after many years of employment as a construction foreman with the Paul E. Hickes Co. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Internment in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker township. Veryl M. SMITH, 72, of 30 Wood St., Robertsdale, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at his home. Born May 5, 1931, in Cookstown, he was the son of the late William McClellen and Agnes Betty (Jones) Smith. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Collare July 26, 1950, at St. Pauls's Church Parsonage in Cumberland, Md. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Joseph Smith and John Smith; both of Robertsdale; six daughters; Rose Thomas and Darlene Brode, both of Saxton, Sheila Treece, Karen Hinkle and Linda Booher, all of Robertsdale, and Carolyn Brown of Wood; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, James Rickabaugh of Saxton and Jerry Smith of Cooks, and one sister, Peggy Smith of Todd, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, survive. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Veryl M. Smith J.r, and two brothers, Robert Rickabaugh and Clifford Rickabaugh. Mr. Smith was affiliated with Parcalete Ministries in Cassville. He attended Defiance Elementary School and Saxton-Liberty High School. During his life he was a mechanic and coal miner and retired as a constrcution worker from Hemp Brothers in 1994. Mr. Smith was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family. Interment in IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Robert D. GATETS, 74, of Saxton, R.R., died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born April 11, 1929, in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Edward and Viola P. (McDonald) Gates. He was twice married; first to Barbara M. Lightner of Mount Union; then to Erma Mae Nolan March 15, 1958, in Breezewood. She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1998. He is survived by two sons, Barry Gates, and his wife, Cheryl (Bashore), of Annville and Robert Gates, and his wife, Fran (Moshier), of Trenton, N.J.; a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Jeffrey Weyant, of Bel Air, Md., two granddaughter, and two step-granddaughters, Tiffani Ballarotto and Tara Dolignier. A sister, Gloria, wife of David Garner, of Claysburg, survives. Mr. Gates was affiliated with the Church of God Tabernacle in Saxton. He was a memebr of the WatsonBlack American Legion Post No. 126 in Broad Top City; Saxton VFW; and the Saxton Sportsmen's Club. He served for two years in the United States Army. For a number of years Mr. Gates was employed by the Baker and Donaldson Construction Co. in Saxton. He also worked for Penelec, was a self-employed carpenter and retired in 1991 from Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking. Interment in Brumbaugh Cemetery. Jennifer M. (Prough) NICKLOW, 32, of York, died unexpectedly at approximately 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2003 in West Manchester Township, York County. She was born July 24, 1971, in Mount Union, the daughter of Tom and Lori Prough of Danville and Wade and Barbara nace of york. She is survived by her parents; two sons, Colby Luther Prough and Travis Alan Witmer, both of York; and her maternal grandmother, Leona N. Casner of Mount Union. A sisetr, Tori A. Prough of Danville, survives. Ms. Nicklow was a graduate of York Surburban high School. She resided in Mount Union from 1997 until 2002 and during that time she had been employed by Berg Electronics, now FCI, in Shirley Township, and at Huntingdon Manor. She very much enjoyed spending time with her children. Interment in Mount Union Cemetery. Malcom D. 'Don' LaROSE, 64, of Jacob Road, Cassville, died at 3:57 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at his home. Born Sept. 15, 1938, in Lionville, he was the son of the late Malcom T. LaRose and Jean (Mitchell) LaRose who survives in Downingtown. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret "Peggy" Beaty, who survives at the couple's home. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle D. LaRose of Colorado and Renee L. McFadden of Glenmore. A sisetr, Margaret L. Hires of Downingtown, survives. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Jean LaRose. Mr. LaRose was a member of Williamson Lodge No. 0309 F&AM, Downingtown; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1153, Downingtown; VFW Post No. 845, Downingtown; Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 0516, Broad Top City; and the USS Sierra (AD18) Veterans Association. Mr. LaRose was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired in 2000 from the Chester County Sherriff's Department after more than 20 years of service as a deputy sherriff. MILLER, 87, a resident of the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of Mount Union, died at 1:35 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at the nursing home. Mr. Miller was born May 16, 1916, in Allenport, Shirley Township. He was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Elizabeth (Headings) Miller. He was united in marriage to Ceretha (Yocum) Miller. Mrs. Miller preceded him in death June 25, 1981. Mr. Miller is survived by the following children; George C. Miller, John R. Miller, Beverly A. Miller and Arlene M. Drake, all of Mount Union; Robert E. Miller of Chambersburg; Mrs. Richard (Mildred) Mayhue of Tyrone; Mrs. Edward (Darlene) Kauffman of Lewistown; Mrs. Emory (Carol) Covert of Rockhill Furnace; Clarence E. Miller of Shirleysburg; Wilda J. Miller of Belleville; and Patty L. Miller of Mapleton. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Chester Miller of Belleville, Leona Taylor and Joseph Miller, both of Mount Union, and Mrs. George (Juliet) Culp of Roaring Spring. Four sisters preceded him in death; Gladys Miller, Helen Hommon, Alice Wilson and Effie Strausser. Mr. Miller was former member of the Rockhill-Orbisonia Sportsmen Club. Mr. Miller retired from Knepp's Garage as an auto mechanic in 1978. During his life he worked at the Warriors Ridge Orchard and the Harbinson-Walker Refactories in Mount Union and had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Interment in Mount Union Cemetery. Sarah J. MacDONALD, 59, of Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, passed aways Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003. She was born Feb. 17, 1944, in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late Forrest I. and Margaret (Watson) MacDonald. She is survived by a sisetr, Nancy E. MacDonald of Lower Paxton Township; an uncle, Ned Port of Huntingdon; and various cousins in the MacDonald and Watson families. Ms. MacDonald was a 1962 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. She attended Robert Morris Junior College. She was employed for 21 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor in the office of Vocational Rehabilitation for the State of Pennsylvania and was co-owner of Expressly yours Catering for the past 22 years. She was active in obedience training with Partners and participated in confirmation dog showing with the Bedlington Terrier Club of America. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Dauphin County. Linda H. FOOR, 57, of 168 Miners Way, Six Mile Run, died at 8:44 a.m., Friday, Saturday, Sept. 5, 2003 at Nason Hospital. Born June 12, 1946, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter o the late Carl Divelbiss and Lily (Bowers) Divelbiss. She married Chester Foor, Aug. 1, 1964, in Rays Cove. Her husband survives along with five sons: Bryan Foor, husband of Nancy, Matt Foor, husband of Donna, and Chet Foor, husband of Nicole, all of Six Mile Run; and Keith Foor, husband of Tammy, and Kevin Foor, husband of Darcy, both of Breezewood. Mrs. Foor is also survived by three sisters, Fran Patterson of Hagerstown, Md., Sue Wible of Hanover and Polly Putt of Round Knob, and three brother, Ron Divelbiss of Abbotstown, Toby Divelbiss of Everett and Robert Divelbiss of Thomasville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Foor was preceded in death by four sisetrs; Becky Bigler, Tina Boden, Penny Yeager and Nancy Divelbiss. Mrs. Foor was of Protestant faith. She was a member of the Six Mile Run American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Saxton VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Broad Top City American Legion. During her life she enjoyed collecting Indian figures and crocheting. Mrs. Foor was a homemaker. Interment in Rays Cove Cemetery in Breezewood. Earl Thomas "Tom" KNODE Jr. 54, of R.R. 2, Huntingdon, died at 2:25 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, State College, He was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Huntingdon, the son of Margaret Jane (Jackson) Knode of Huntingdon, R.R. 2, and the late Earl Thomas Knode Sr. He was united in marriage to Lucinda F. "Cindy" Shoemaker Aug. 16, 1985, at the bride's home in Oneida Township by the Rev. William McCracken. He is survived by his wife at home; his mother, at Hutningdon, R.R. 2; one son, Thomas Lee Knode of Petersburg and Katie Mae Knode, at home; and one grandson, Chase. Two sisters, Catherine Woods of Dillsburg and Dottie J. Cramer of Huntingdon, Survive. Mr. Knode was of the Methodist faith. He was a memebr of the National Rifle Association, the American Hunter Association and the Shenecoy Sportmens's Club. He was a 1967 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam aera. Mr. Knode was employed at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon as a maintenance mechanic since 1991. Prior to his employment at the hospital, he worked for 13 years at Bonney Forge in Huntingdon. He was an avid hunter and played guitar in "The Country Strings" band. Interment in Donation Cemetery, Huntingdon. Norman F. BILGER, 81, of 20 Quick Lane, Mount Union, went to be with the Lord at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept 7, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Sept. 28, 1921, in Blacklog Valley, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late George W. and Laura (Machimer) Bilger. He was united in marriage to Ruth Linn Nov. 22, 1945, in Hagerstown, Md. He is survived by his wife at home; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Norma) Stake of Mount Union, Mrs. Mark (Connie) Heidel of York and Mrs. Jay (Linda) Shawver of Mount Union, R.R.; one son, Thomas Bilger and his wife, Cathy, of Mount Union R.R.; 1 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the following siblings; Erma Kane of Mount Union; Stella Bair of Mill Creek; Vera Lynn of Cassville; Violet Dell of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia; Thelma Bilger of McVeytown. He was preceded in death by a son, George Bilger, four sisters and five brothers. Mr. Bilger attended New Life Fellowship Church. He was former Newton Hamilton Borough Council member, former member of the Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Co., and was instrumental in having his own land developed for the boat launch access area in Newton Hamilton. Mr. Bilger was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in action and was also awarded the Bronze Star for heroic service in France, Belgium and Luxemborg. He retired on disability from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, having worked at both Huntingdon and Mount Union plants. Prior to that, he had been employed at both North American and Harbison-Walke r refactories, Mount Union, and also worked at Viscose and Overhead Door, both of Lewsitown. He had also owned and operated his own sawmill in Blacklog Valley. Mr. Bilger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and also cooking, baking and canning for his family and friends. He also loved his animals. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park. Lester E. PRICE Sr., 81, formerly of Green Street, Mount Union, who for the last three years resided with his daughter, Rose C. Fletcher, at Etters, R.R. 2, died unexpectedly at 1:22 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at York Memorial Hospital, York. Born Aug. 14, 1922, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Edward Elmer and Alice M. (Grove) Price. He was untied in marriage to Betty J. Uncapher June 5, 1946, in Johnstown. Mrs. Price preceded him in death Feb. 6, 2000. He is survived by the following children; Luetta M. Powell of Huntingdon; Lester F. "Butch" Price Jr. and his wife, Bonnie J., of Mapleton; Rise C. Fletcher of Etters; David N. Price and his wife, Sue , of Etters; Eugene D. Price and his wife, Sondra L. , of Newton Hamilton. Mrs. Jeff (Melodie Lynn) Atherton of Shirleysburg; and Mark D, Price and his wife, Sur, of Mount Union. He is survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Luella McClain of Huntingdon and Clara Rinker of Mechanicsburg, and two brothers, Gerald Price of Mill Creek and Wilmer Price of Shirleysburg, survive. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick Lynn Price, and a sister, Janet Williams. Mr. Price attended the Church of God Goldsboro. He was a member of the Redland Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Price served in the United States Army in the Philippines with the 111th Signal Service Co. during World War II. He retired from American Chain in York and had previously been employe by Owen-McGlaughlin of York and J.C. Blari Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Interment will be made in Germany Valley Cemetery. James A GETZ, 68 of 291 Washington Street, Petersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 9 , 2003, in the emergency room at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born July 26, 1935, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Olive (Emery) Getz. He was united in marriage to Helen MArie Knode Nov. 6, 1954, at the 15th Street Methodist Church in Huntingdon by the Rev. Taylor. He is survived by his wife at home; one son, Thomas Andrew Getz, and his wife, Carol, of Petersburg, R.R. 1 ; two daughters, Peggy Sue (Getz) Ormsby of Petersburg, of R.R. 1, and Tammy Marie Hamer, and her husband, Roger, of Alexandria; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Robert Getz and Donald Getz, and one sister, Elva Jane Pollicino, all of Mapleton, survive. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Karen Diane and Donna Kay, and a grandson, Todd A. Getz. Mr. Getz was of the Methodist faith. He was a past master of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 3000 F&AM; past high priest of Standing Stone Royal Arch Chapter 201; past and present commander of Huntingdon Commandary No. 65; Knight of York Cross Honor in the Penn Priory; and PTIM/present principal conductor of work for Nittany Counsel No. 57. He was a member of Tall Cedars/Chief Logan Forrest No. 131 and the Order of the Silver Trowel. He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon; Juniata Valley Senior Citizens; Alexandria Sportsmens Club; and the home association for the Petersburg American Legion and Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon. Mr. Getz was first employed by the J.C. Blair Co. and its successor, Westab 14 years and retired from Local No. 66 Operating Engineers, Clearfield, with 33 years of service. He was and avid hunter and fisherman. Interment in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, R.R. Freda A. CHIARIZIA, 84, of P.O. Box 167, Six Mile Run, formerly of North Point and Wood, died at 4;04 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Dec. 13, 1918, in Robertsdale, she was the daughter of the late Guestino A. and Helen M. (Chauvenne) Chiarizia. She was twice married; first to Jay Strouse of Chester in 1948; later, in 1953, she married Howard Johnson in Baltimore. Both preceded her in death. She is survived by five children; Darlene "Snookie" Crooks of Six Mile Run; Walter "Tinker" Johnson, and his wife, Debbie, of Podesville,MD; Bonnie Williams, and her husband Alan 'Duane' of Broad Top City; Steve Johnson, and his wife, Joan, of Everett; and Joseph Johnson of Hopewell; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters survive; Robert Chiarizia of Colonial Beach, Va; Silven Chiarizia of Oak Island, N.C.; Adeline Thomas of New Mexico; and Helen "Toots" Autrey of Colonial Beach, Va. She was preceded in death by an infant child; a great-grandson, Randy Zimmerman; and five siblings; Elisabeth, Steve, Arthur, Cammil and Louis Chiarizia. Ms. Chiarizia was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the VFW Coodiettes in Baltimore in the late 1950s through the mid-1960s. She was also a member of the Policemans Association. She attended Saxton-Liberty High School. She was last employed at the Cove Shoe Factory in Martinsburg, but previously worked at the sewing factory in Defiance, for the Altoona Railroad during World War II and held secretarial and accounting jobs in Chester. She also worked in a Ship Shore Factory at Montgomery Ward in Baltimore for a number of years. Interment in Fockler Cemetery, Saxton. Rankin A. "Bud" SOUDERS, 72 , of West Tannery Road, Wells Tannery, died at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, September. 11, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Oct. 9, 1930, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Lester and Leona (Seville) Souders. He was united in marriage to Jean Wright Aug. 27, 1948, in Hagerstown, Md. He is survived by his wife at home; two daughters, Peggy J. Grace, and her husband, Terry, and Patty L. Lyon, and her husband, Gary, both of Wells Tannery; three grandsons, Jeffrey Grace of McConnellsburg, Todd Grace of Mapleton, R.R. and Shawn Elbin of Everrett; two step-grandchildren. Samuel Lyon of Williamsburg and Jessica Lyon of Hollidaysburg; and two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Grace Jr. and Brittany Grace, both of McConnellsburg. One brother, Carl Souders of Wells Tannery, and two sisters, Helen Foreman of Wells Tannery and Carol Grimes of Chambersburg, survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Preston, Gerald, Lee and Dale. Mr. Souders was of the Protestant Faith. BRODE, 96, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Mifflin County, formerly of 116 Luther Drive, Lewsitown, died at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Ohesson Manor. Born Oct. 22, 1906, in Todd, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (Rickenbaugh) Scott. She was united in marriage to Frank D. Brode June 1, 1929. She is survived by her husband, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home; one son, Gerald Duane Brode of Virginia Beach, Va; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. She was born Jan. 8, 1912, the daughter of Elrea E. and Edna Ellenberger. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Harpster Sept. 22, 1933, at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. Gloria Jean FLASHER, 62, of HCR 71, Orbsonia, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Altoona Hospital. She was untied in marriage to Williard "Sonny" Flasher December 7, 1963, in Saltillo. She is survived by her husband at home and two sons, Dennis D. She was employed for the last 15 years at Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. Prior to her employment at Woodland , she workerd at the former Creitz Bologna in Mount Union for five years. BOWEN, 76, of 13310 Farigreen Circle, Hagerstown MD died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at Washington County Hospital, Maryland. Born November 22, 1926, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Hohman) Bowen. He was united in marriage to Jane Bachtell. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: one daughter, Cynthia J. Lunn of Gaithersburg, Md; two sons, Charles N. Bowen of Darnestown, Md; James R. Bowen of Darnestown, Md; and Kensie J. Bowen and David W. Bowen, both of Smithsburg, Md. Mr. Bowen was a member of Haven Luthern Church, Hagerstown, Md. He was a past president of the Hagerstown Lions Club; past president of the United Way of Washington County; previously served on the board of directors of the Boy's Club and Goodwill Industries; and was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42. Mr. Bowen was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was employed with Potomac Edison Co. as personnel director for 29 years, retiring in 1969. Born November 13, 1939, in Fort Littleton, he was the son of the late Vivian and Goldie Mae (Naugle) Miller. He was united in marriage to Bonnie M. Wilson , September 21, 1963, in Hagerstown Md. He is survived by his wife at home; five children; Alan Helman of McConnelsburg, Robin Baughmand of Harrisonville, Loretta Wilson of Hustontown, Raymond "Wish" Miller of McConnelsburg and Robert E. "Chip" Miller Jr. of Harrisonville; and 12 grandchildren. John William PORT, 81 of 509 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, died at 4 a.m. September 13, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. His death was sudden. Born October 8, 1921 in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Jesse and Annie (Hitchens) Port. He was united in marriage to Sara R. Henney. He is survived by his wife at home; two sons; Stephen D. Port of Menlo Park California; and Michael Port of Greenville, Mich; and one grandson, Robert C. Port of Greenville, Mich. He was proceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Chalmers Port, Bernard Port, Dorothy Roth and Mary Irwin. Mr. Port was a member of Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ in Huntingdon. He was a member of Standing Stone Post No. 1754 VFW in Huntingdon; Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24 American Legion in Huntingdon; and the Military Ofiicers Association of America (MOAA). He was a 1939 graduate of Huntingdon High School. He retired from the United States Army in 1969 in Fort Detrick., Md.; following 30 years of service. A Peal Harbor veteran from 1943 to 1945, he served in the Mediterraean Theatre of Conflicts and in various Italian campaigns. He seved tours in Germany and domestic stateside positions and attended Officers Candidate School. Mr Port was a lifelong resident of Huntingdon. He enjoyed gardening, bulldogs and spending time with his grandson. Interment in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon with full military honors. Ruth Diana (Temll) ORNDORF, New Bern, N.C., died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare­William Penn in Lewistown. Born May 6, 1925, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of late John and Dinah (Jenkins) Terrill.She was united in marriage to Richard E. Orndorf, who preceded her in death.She is survived by a daughter, Gail N. Orndorf of Old Town, Maine ; a. son, Stanley G. Orndorf and his wIfe, Debora, of Lewlstown;­two granddaughters, Rachel K. Byther, and her husband, Eric, Kara L. Thompson, and her husband, Chad; and six great-grandchildren.Three brothers survive: John Terrill IV, and his wife, Alice, of Lock Haven; David T. Terrill, and his wife Barbara, of Lock Haven; and RobertE. S. Terrill, and his wife, Helen of Falls Church. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Terrill, MaryMorgan and Lareen Gottesleben, and one brother, William Terrill. Mrs. Orndorf was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Bern, N.C. She was a Red Cross volunteer at the Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern, N.C., serving as a Gray Lady for 12 years. Her special chari-ties were the Juniata County Food Pantry in Mifflintown, Habitat forHumanity and Neuse River Foundation in New Bern, N.C. An avid vegetable and flower gardener, she was a life member of the National Council of Garden Clubsand held numerous offices and committee positions in the Standing Stone Garden Club in Huntingdon. A graduate of Lock Haven High School, she trained as a nurse at the University of Pennsylvania Hospitalin Philadelphia. She served as amember of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp. during World War II. She was employed as a caseworker and supervisor for 29 years by the Department of Public Welfare, with the the Board and for Assistance ofJuniata and Huntingdon counties. After her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the United, States and Europe. She enjoyed golf, bridge, gardening and, most recently, making dried and flower wreaths to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed corresponding with her children, grandchildren,great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and special high school friends She represented Craven County,North Carolina, in swimming events as a Senior Olympist in 1987 participated in the first national Senior Olympic games held in St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Orndorf will be remembered as a talented soprano soloist, having begun to sing publicly at the age of 9. Over the years, she sang in churches and at community events, clubs and pageants in Juniata, Mifflin and Huntingdon counties. As a featured soloist she sang in church choirs for over 35 years and directed severalchoirs.She and her husband owned afarm in Juniata County for 51 years. They were also former residents of Huntingdon County. Leonard SHILEY, 79, of York, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at veterans Hospital in Lebanon. He was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Mount Union, the son of the late Elmer C. and Catherine V. (Welsh) Shiley. He was united in marriage to Vera M. McGarvey. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; three children, Ronald J. Shiley of Lancaster, Mary Ann Snyder of York and Leonard J. Shiley Jr. of Dover; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildrenA sister, Grace Fleming of Williamsport survives. Mr. Shiley was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was a member of VFW Post No. 556, American Legion Post No. 799 and the Hawk Gunning Club. He was a Veteran of World War II. Mr.Shiley was a meat cutter by trade and a self-employed painter. EAGLE, 85, of the Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of 2108 Third St., Altoona, passed away early Saturday afternoon at the Village followowing an extended illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Huntingdon County, the daughter of the late Charles M. and Nellie E. (Goss) Corcelius. Upon the death of her father, and the remarriage of her mother, she was reared by her mother and step-father, Chester Goshen. She was united in marriage to William H. Keagle Feb. 9, 1940, at the former Fairview Methodist Church in Altoona. Mr. Keagle preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1994. She is survived by a son, William C. Keagle, and his wife, the Rev. Marianna, of Williamsburg , a sister, Betty Stover, and her husband, Dean, of Huntingdon; and a niece, Dr. Nancy Stover of Ventura, Calif. Mrs. Keagle was member of Memorial Church of the Brethern in Martinsburg and former active member at Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona, where she retired as church secretery in 1976 after 22 years of service. She was active in all areas of the church, having served as past president of the Fairview United Methodist Women and formerly held several offices in the Altoona District United Methodist Women. She was a life member of the Altoona Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as treasurer for many years. Mrs. Keagle was a 1936 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1938 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She previously was employed as a secretery at the former Reed Tabacco Co. in Altoona. She enjoyed needle work and reading religious books. Private interment in Grandview Cemetery, Antis Township., Blair County. Savino Robert CIUCCI, 76, of North Spring Street, Everett, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born Jan. 14, 1927, in Dud1ey, he was the son of the late Massimino and Lillian (Wolfe) Ciucci He was united in marriageto Catherine Park Feb. 9, 1948, in Cumberland, Md. He is survived by his wife at home; four children: Yvonne wife of Roger Cornell, of Chesapeak Va.; George Ciucci and his wife Vera (Weaver), of Greencastle; Edward Ciucci, and his wife, Diana (Cogan) of Clearville; and David Ciucci and a very good friend of the family, James Melton, of Suffolk, VA; a daughter-in-law, Gail (Ott) Ciucci of Duncansville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, John Ciucci, and his wife, Mary Catherine, of Gaithersburg, Md., and Tony Ciucci, and his fiance Marge, of Aliquippa; three sisters; Catherine Pasquine of Palmyra, Madeline Interi, wife of Joe, of Harrisburg, and Jean Anderson, wife of George, of Vienna, Fla.; and a sister in-law, Betty Ciucci of Harrisburg.He was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Po" Ciucci Dec. 142002, and two brothers, Pete Ciucci and Loui Ciucci. Mr, CIUCCI was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Catholic Church, Everett. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Bedford; a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 2088, Everret; a 50 year member of American Legion Post, Everret; and a member of the Improved Order of the Redmen Wambic Tribe No. 507, Everret. Mr. Ciucci was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School with the class of 1944. He served in the United States Naval Air Force during World War II. He owned and operated the Everret Beverage Co. at the west end of Everret for 45 years before retiring. Interment in Everett Cemetery. Harry W. STUART, 92, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Shirleysburg, died of natural causes Tuesday morning, Sept. 16, 2003, at Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown. Born in Radnor, he was the sonof the late Albert E. and Katharine (Wallace) Stuart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Scott) Stuart in 1990. He is survived by a son, Albert E.Stuart, and his wife, Sandi T., of River Forest, Ill.; two daughters, Alice E. Long, and her husband, Harry 0., of Belleville, and Margaret K. Sieczkowski of Swickley; 11 grandchildren; and 20 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Katharine Hay. Mr.Stuart was a member of the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren.
