'KATE' SHAFFER Homemaker, active in church, civic groups Helen C. "Kate" Shaffer, 75, of Orbisonia, HCR 71, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1993, in the Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg. Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Laura (Ramsey) Wible. She was married to Maurice Shaffer, who preceded her in death. Surviving are three children: R. Ray Leader of Atlanta, Ga.; Pamela L. Morton, Loathian, Md.; and Vickie Mark, Maytown (Pa.); four granddaughters; six stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Lottie Grove and Isabel Rogers, both of Orbisonia. A brother, William Wible, preceded her in death. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Saltillo. She was also a member of the Auxiliary to Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace; Shirleysburg Grange No. 119; and the Lioness Club. During her life, she was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Robert Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg R.D. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from 7-9 p.m., and Friday, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services.
