KATE SHAFFER Mrs. Kate Shaffer, a well known and highly respected lady of Cassville, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Margaret Shaffer, of Calvin, on Saturday morning, Oct. 5th. Mrs. Shaffer was stricken with blindness about seven years ago, which was a great affliction to her, as she was always very industrious. She sustained a fall some time ago, which caused her great suffering, hence her last years were spent in fighting disease. Her husband preceded her to the grave many years ago, while they resided in the west, after which she came east and bought a property in Cassville, where she and her son Oscar located, and engaged in the weaving of carpet for a living. Prior to her death she had been doing weaving for about thirty years, and some of the first carpet she made is still in excellent condition. Funeral services were conducted at Calvin by the Rev. Trautman, with interment at Cassville. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, October 19, 1918
