Shell, a well known veteran of the Civil war and a retired farmer died yesterday evening at 6.10 o'clock at the home of his son, N. K. Shell, 1007 Sixteenth avenue, death being caused by a complication of diseases due to advanced years. He was born Dec. 6, 1828 in Huntingdon county, and was twice married. His first wife was Priscilla J. McClain, of New Grenada, Fulton county, to whom he was married in 1866. To this union was born two sons, N. K. Shell of this city and J. W. Shell, of Pittsburgh. His second wife was Miss Catharine G. Aucker, of Martinsburg, to whom he was married in 1886. To this union were born two survive. [sic] He was a veteran of the Civil war and served with distinction to the close, being honorably discharged at Marklesburg, Huntingdon county. The body will be taken to Marklesburg on Sunday morning where services will be conducted and where interment will be made in the Stone Church cemetery.
