  Gladys R. Snyder, 87, of 419 13th St., Huntingdon, died at 10 p.m. 
Saturday, June 17, 2006, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.
  Born Sept. 14, 1918, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late George 
W. and Ida (Steel) Rhodes.  She was first united in marriage to C. E. "Ned" 
Simpson April 13, 1939.  Mr. Simpson preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1965.  
She later married R. W. "Rudy" Snyder Sept. 29, 1968.  He preceded her in 
death April 2, 1990.
  Mrs. Snyder is survived by three sons, Jerry W. Simpson, Mechanicsburg; 
Edward M. Simpson, Stony Brook, NY; and Michael R. Simpson, Huntingdon; a 
stepdaughter, Janet L. Smith, Virginia Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren and 13 
great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen Simpson; and a 
stepdaughter, Pauline Mattas.  The last surviving member of her family, she 
was also preceded in death by a brother and sister, Fred W. Rhodes and Hazel 
M. Orner; and a half-sister, Geraldine Crawford.
  Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Huntingdon.
  She was a member of the Hartslog Valley Grange No. 375 and the Pennsylvania 
State Grange.
  Mrs. Snyder was a 1936 graduate of Huntingdon High School.
  She worked as an administrative assistant for C. H. Miller, Huntingdon, at 
one time.
  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Robert 
E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with Pastor Kathy Colebank officiating.  
  Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, and 
from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday.  
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian 
Church, 508 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, PA  16652.
