Stake, 86, formerly of Three Springs, and more recently of Cromwell St, Orbisonia, died 2:10 a.m., Sunday, February 11 at Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia, where he had been a resident for the past two months. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 16 at the Three Springs Cemetery with Rev. Steven Heaster officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. He was born September 9, 1920 in Clay Township, Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Daniel and Ada (Brumbaugh) Stake. He was married to the former Helen M. Shafer Wakefield on October 19, 1946. Mrs. Stake survives at their home. One son also survives, Larry Stake of Hanover, MD. Mr. Stake had five brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. He attained the rank of First Sergeant. Mr. Stake retired from Wible Bottling Works, Three Springs after 28 years service. Prior to that he was employed at the East Broad Top RR for 15 years. He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church, RD, Three Springs where he had served many years as Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the choir. An avid hunter, Mr. Stake also enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Memorial contributions should be made to Immanuel Bible Church, RD, Three Springs, PA 17264.
