Stapleton, 72, of West Chester, formerly of Mapleton, went home to be with the Lord at 3:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, at the Chester County Hospital. The funeral service was held on Tuesday July 18, at the Willistown United Methodist Church, Dutton Mill Road & West Chester Pike Willistown. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester. Mrs. Stapleton was born November 27, 1933, she was the daughter of Taylor and Esther Bailey. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Stapleton on June 12, 1955. Mrs. Stapleton is survived by her husband, Donald E. Stapleton of West Chester and three daughters, Denise and husband Michael Wallace of Gilbert, AZ, Debra and husband William Brown, Jr. of Glenmoore and Diana and husband Raymond Kowalski of Downingtown. She also leaves her legacy across three generations: Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wallace and sons, Tyler and Alex; Daniel and Rachel Wallace of Gilbert, AZ; Lisa Brown Pershall and husband David of Geigertown; William Brown III of West Chester; Brian Brown of Glenmoore; and Jeanine and Kimberly Kowalski of Downingtown. Mrs. Stapleton graduated from Captain Jack Joint High School in the class of 1951 and completed nurse's training at Woman's Hospital of Philadelphia. She worked as an operating room nurse at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, PA. She was a 40-year member of Willistown United Methodist Church. Her love for the Lord and music was evident through her ministry as a children's and adults' choir director. She was also president of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Red Hats, and active on various boards and committees. For twenty-five years, she and her husband maintained a mobile home in Rehoboth Beach, DE where they enjoyed boating, fishing and taking the girls waterskiing. After selling their place at the beach, they did extensive traveling in the continental U.S. only missing North Dakota and Minnesota. Last summer they spent time in Arizona for a wedding and high school graduation. They then flew to Portland, OR where they boarded the Queen of the West paddleboat boat and spent their 50th wedding anniversary cruising and sightseeing on the Columbia, Willamette and Snake Rivers. Proverbs 31:10-31 and Matthew 25:23 were important Bible verses to her.
