Mrs.Essie Laura States
Mrs. Essie Laura States of McConnellstown wife of -Archie B. States, died in 
the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital at 2:45 o'clock this Monday morning. Born in 
Coupon, Blair County, on May 19, 1806, she was the daughter of James and Mary 
(Martz) Watkins. She was married to Archie B. States on Feb. 4, 1927, in 
Marklesburg.  Her husband and eight children are surviving: James, Belva, 
Donald, Isabel, Alma, Fred, Gary and Iva Darlene, all at home. Also surviving 
are three sisters and a brother, Mrs., James Hill of Altoona, Mrs. Gardie Dean 
and James Watkins, both of McConnellstown,
and Mrs. Howard Briggs of Hesston. Mrs. States was a member of the 
McConnellstown Methodist Church, a good wife and mother, she was highly 
regarded and enjoyed a wide circle of friends The funeral service, will be 
held in the McConnellstown Methodist Church at 2:30 p. m. Thursday.
The Rev. Paul Myers will officiate.  Interment will be in the McConnellstown 
Cemetery. Friends will be received at the late residence after 2:30 p. m. 
Tuesday, Huff funeral service.
