STATES Mrs. Rachel States, a well-known and highly respected resident of Huntingdon, and widow of John Calvin States, passed away at the home of her son, Andrew C. States, 1523 Washington street, this Tuesday morning, December 21, 1937, at 5:45 o'clock. Mrs. States had been in failing health during the past two years. Mrs. States was born in McConnellstown on January 2, 1852, a daughter of Ailie and Catherine (Webb) Lloyd, both deceased. At the time of death she was aged 85 years, 11 months and 19 days. She was a devout member of the Fifteenth Street Methodist Episcopal Church of Huntingdon. Mrs. States lived a simple, sincere and serene life. To those who were privileged to know her she was very kind and thoughtful, generous and ready to help those in need or distress. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Andrew C. States and John R. States, of Huntingdon, and one daughter, Miss Lettie States, of Asbury Park, N. J. One brother, Henry Lloyd, of McConnellstown Road, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at Brown's funeral parlors on Thursday afternoon, December 23, 1937, at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. O. B. Poulson officiating, assisted by the Rev. George F. Boggs, D. D. Interment will be made in the McConnellstown cemetery. Friends may call at the States home, 1523 Washington street, any time until ten o'clock Thursday morning when the body will be taken to Brown's funeral parlors.
