Steel Died at Home in Huntingdon After a lingering illness, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Steel, widow of the late Samuel A. Steele, died at her home, 318 Mifflin street, Huntingdon, Tuesday, October 12, at 2:40 o'clock. Mrs. Steel had been in failing health since July, and for the past two weeks had been confined to her bed, where she became gradually weaker until she passed away. Mrs. Steel was a daughter of Major Jacob and Mary Landis, deceased, and was born at Middletown, Pa., July 15, 1843, being aged at death 72 years, 2 months and 17 days. In her girlhood days, Mrs. Steel attended Lititz Seminary, in Lancaster county, and is [sic] was there that she met Mr. Steel who was also a student at the seminary. Following her marriage to Mr. Steel at Middletown, February 27, 1864, she removed to Huntingdon, where she has since resided. Mrs. Steele was a member of the Presbyterian church. She was the mother of eight children, the following of whom survive: G. Landis and R. M. Steel, Mrs. E. G. Phillips, and Mrs. F. B. Bayer, of Huntingdon; C. A. Steel, of Tyrone, and Mrs. F. E. Colony, of Renovo. The two children deceased are Samuel McCulloch Steel who died in childhood, and Harry E. Steel, a prominent druggist of Huntingdon who died November 10, 1914. Two brothers, Robert F. Landis, of Middletown; William F. Landis, of Toledo, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. J. C. Fezzell, of Grand Island, Nebraska, also survive. Funeral services were held at her late home, 318 Mifflin street, Huntingdon, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. R. P. Daubenspeck, D.D., officiating. Interment in Riverview cemetery.
