Steninger, 97, formerly of Rockhill Furnace, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Green Ridge Nursing Home, Newville. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, at the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Blair McKim, Rev. Darrell Nicklow and Rev. Daniel Summers officiating. Interment was made at the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace. Funeral arrangements were under .the direction of Martin Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. He was born October 13, 1910 at Mount Union and he was the son of the late Henry and Nora (Madden) Steninger. He was first married to the former Nellie Burket who preceded in death in 1941. He then married the former Helen E. Cornelius on April 8, 1942. Mrs. Steninger preceded in death May 26, 2001. Mr. Steninger is survived by the following children: Jane Summers and husband, Donald of Carlisle; Joan Hutchison and husband, Max of Shippensburg; Nancy Smith of Lewistown; Louis Steninger and wife, Cathy of Litiz and Larry Steninger and wife, Delores of Landisville. There are 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren who survive. He is survived by the following siblings: Merle Steninger of Shade Gap; Mabel "Dolly" Mickel of Shippensburg and Doris Snyder of North Tonawanda, NY. One brother, Alden Steninger, preceded in death. Mr. Steninger was a member of the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene where he had been very active for many years in various capacities. He was the last surviv-ing member of the Orbisonia High School Class of 1928. He retired in 1972 from the Southern Huntingdon Co. School District after many years service as a custodian. He was also employed for many years as a security officer. He enjoyed hunting and singing gospel music. He played the guitar, violin and piano. The Valley Log, Orbisonia, Pa., April 23, 2008
