All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ________________________________________________ THOMAS Samuel Thomas died at his home in Smith Valley on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 a.m., from the effects of Spanish influenza and pneumonia. Mr. Thomas was twice married, his first wife being Miss Belle Curfman, who died several years ago. To this union, one daughter was born, who is now Mrs. Edith, wife of John Park, of Saltillo. He later married Miss Clara Leidy, a daughter of Jacob Leidy, of Saltillo. To this union three children were born, two of whom are deceased. He is survived by his wife, and one son Edward, who is very ill with influenza, and was unable to attend his father's funeral. Mr. Thomas was a highly respected citizen and a consistent member of the Bowman's Chapel M. E. church, and Latta Grove Grange No. 935. He was aged at time of death about fifty-four years. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, with interment in the Saltillo cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, November 16, 1918
