Thompson, an old and highly respected citizen of Franklinville, Huntingdon county, died yesterday afternoon. He had been sick since early in the spring, having contracted a heavy cold which resulted in severe hemorrhages. Yesterday another hemorrhage attacked him and death followed very suddenly. Deceased had always lived in Spruce Creek Valley and there married Miss Sarah Mattern who survives him, and is the aunt of our townsman, A. J. Mattern. Four children also survive their father: D. M. Thompson, of Duncansville; J. H. Thompson, who lives in Ohio; Mrs. Tillie C. Caldwell, of Altoona; and Miss Jennie Thompson, who has resided with her parents. William Thompson, brother of the deceased, lives at Buffalo Run. Mr. Thompson has, for many years, been one of the most prominent citizens of Franklinville and by his sterling good qualities has won and held a great circle of loving friends who are pained to learn of his sudden demise. He was held in profound esteem by all who knew him, and his acquaintances rejoice that he was spared to live to the ripe old age of seventy-six. He was always a firm Christian and a devoted member of Graysville Presbyterian church, the funeral will take place from that church tomorrow morning at ten o'clock. Rev. J. C. Kelly, pastor of the deceased for many years will conduct the services. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., August 7, 1888
