Death of an Age and Respected Resident of Birmingham. John R. Thompson, an aged and highly respected citizen of Birmingham, Huntingdon county, passed into the eternal world at 4.30 o'clock yesterday morning, of dropsy. He was born in the house in which he died on July 21, 1828, and was, therefore, nearly 71 years of age. His wife preceded him to the grave by a few years. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. W. M. C. Craine and Mrs. Harry Taylor, of Altoona; Mrs. S. M. Snyder, of Birmingham, and Misses Mary, of Altoona, and Grace, at home. Morning Tribune (Altoona), Wednesday, June 28, 1899 TYRONE TOPICS. Funeral obsequies of the late John R. Thompson will be held at the home in Birmingham to-morrow morning at 9.30 o'clock. Services will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. R. Shipe. Interment in the Methodist Episcopal cemetery at Birmingham. Morning Tribune, Thursday, June 29, 1899 Funeral of John R. Thompson. The funeral of the late John R. Thompson took place at 9.30 o'clock yesterday morning at Birmingham, and was largely attended by his friend and neighbors. The services were in charge of the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Birmingham, who was assisted by several of his ministerial brethren. The prayer was offered by the Rev. Mr. Wall, the Scripture lessons were read by the Revs. T. S. Wilcox and F. W. Biddle, while the addresses were delivered by the Revs. J. R. Shipe and Curtin G. Roop.
