News reached this city on Wednesday morning that Mr. Robert Tussey, an old and highly respected citizen of Morris township, this county, had been found dead in his barn the previous evening. During the afternoon he had attended the funeral of Mr. George Davis, at Water Street, and returned home in the enjoyment of his usual good health. It was about 3 o'clock when he reached his home and soon afterwards went to the barn, and as it was his custom to spend much of his time there, he was not missed until the dusk of the evening, when a member of the family went to the barn and found him lying in one of the stalls, dead. There were no marks on the body and the presumption is that he died of heart disease. Mr. Tussey was born in Canoe Valley, January 10, 1816, and at the time of his death was 71 years, 8 months and 25 days old. He was the son of David Tussey, and remained with his father until his twenty- fourth year, when he married Dorothy, daughter of Samuel and Susannah Harnish, and removed to the farm on which he died. He was a hard- working, successful farmer and an honored, useful citizen. He was for many years a member of the Reformed church, and at the time of his death was one of the elders, esteemed by the entire community. His wife and three sons and six daughters survive him.
