Although she was taken to the infirmary about two hour previously, her death was a terrible shock to school officials, faculty and fellow students. The young girl arrived at school in the morning seemingly in her usual state of health, but was seized with an attack of dizziness during her first class period. She was immediately removed to the school hospital, where Miss Rebecca Barrick, a teacher, administered first aid. She recovered but was left in the room to rest, Miss Barrick checking on her condition every fifteen minutes. At 9:45 Superintendent J.G. Everard went to the infirmary and the girl said that she felt much better and would be able to return to her next class. About 10:50 when Miss Barrick entered the infirmary she was alarmed by the girl's appearance and medical aid was summoned immediately. When Doctor Frances Mainzer arrived on the scene she had already expired and the doctor expressed the opinion that medicine would have been powerless to help her. Coroner William B. West, M.D. was summoned and he pronounced her death due to a heart attack. Rebecca Banks Walker was born at Elizabeth, Pa., on April 12, 1925, a daughter of James P. (deceased) and Mary A. Runyan Walker. She had been a resident of Huntingdon for the past five years. She had attended the Methodist Church and Sunday School at Wesley Chapel. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Nelson Pierce, her stepfather, Nelson Pierce, and one sister, Norma Walker, all of Miller Township. Friends may call at the Temple funeral home after 7:00 p.m. this evening and until noon Friday at which time the body will be taken to Monongahela, Washington County, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon. Interment at Monongahela.
