Coroner Dr. W. B. West of Huntingdon, Sheriff Steele and Deputy Sheriff William Foster were summoned and after looking over the ground ordered the body removed to the Dunmire funeral home. The cause of death remains a mystery. There was a mark on the head, which could have been received in a fall and there was a bottle of whiskey lying on the ground nearby, but officials think this was a ruse, since Mr. Webb was not known to have been drinking and the mortician said there was no odor of liquor when he prepared the body for interment. An investigation is being conducted by the coroner and local and county officers. Mr. Webb was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Strand) Webb and was born at Shade Gap on Sept. 17, 1877, one of six children, all deceased except one sister, Mrs. Belle Miller of Decorum. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was never married and had been operating the James King farm in Wayne township. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of a nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. John Minnick, in North Mount Union, in charge of Rev. Arthur Hill. Interment will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Archie Claar Obituary Collection, Vol. 6 (1936), page 76.
