He was the son of Mr. Elijah Weston, a man well known in this section. After working on the farm till the war cloud came over this fair land, George was among the first to offer his services to his country. He was a brave soldier, was wounded in the elbow and the ball was never removed. It caused him pain all his days. After the war he married a Miss Mary Campbell, of Millersville, Lancaster county, who died some years ago, leaving one son, Geary. Five years ago he married Miss Emma Conrad and they were blessed with one daughter. He leaves the following brothers and sisters: Elijha, Thomas, Graffius, David and Winfield; Mrs. May Biglow, of Tyrone, Mrs. Abbot, of Virginia, Mrs. Staultberz Johnston, of Philipsburg, and Mrs. Kate Copley, of Warriorsmark Valley. George was a good Christian, being a member of the Methodist church from its youth. He was a good debater, being an active member of the old Warriorsmark literary society; was a republican and was always active in working for the party of his choice. He was president of the Warriorsmark literary society. Rev. W. A. Carver conducted the services on Monday at 10 o'clock, at his late residence, where a large number of relatives and friend[s] gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. His remains were buried in the Warriorsmark cemetery, where his father sleeps. The following old soldiers acted as pallbearers: Captain O. S. Rumbarger, Daniel Chamberlain, William Burkett, George W. Mills, G. Rabolt and Robert Hanah. May he rest in peace. Altoona Tribune, February 21, 1889
