At 8 o'clock yesterday morning O. N. Whipple died at his resident, at McAlevy's Fort, Huntingdon county, aged 57 years. The deceased was a veteran of the civil war, being a lieutenant in the First Maine cavalry. His illness extended over a period of nearly one year. He was a member of the Lutheran church, a prominent citizen in the town in which he lived, and in which he settled shortly after the war. He was an extensive dealer in lumber and was known all over the county. Mr. Whipple is survived by his wife. He was a brother-in-law of Mal. Valentine, of Altoona. The funeral will occur to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock, interment being made in the cemetery near his home. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Saturday, December 2, 1899
