His disease, which at first was cramp in the bowels, was determined to be chronic Diarrhoea. The deceased was among the early settlers in this county, and during his long residence in it, was uniformly distinguished for the puritanic simplicity of his manners, the unswerving piety of his life, the unimpeachable honesty of his dealings, his sincere, fervent and constant parental attachment, and good will to all mankind. Of him it might eminently be said, "He owed no man anything, but to love." During his long affliction of four months, the assurance of his acceptance with Christ, his cheerful resignation, and his confident belief that a rest remained for him with the redeemed, never for a moment abandoned him; but with his expiring breath, with which only his consciousness of passing events expired, he declared, "I have no will of my own--all is right"...
