Winnick, 86, of Rockhill Furnace, died Thursday, March 20 at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 25 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia with Rev. David Miller officiating. Interment was made at the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace. He was born January 5, 1922 at Orbisonia and he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Shugarts) Winnick. He was married to the former A. Denece Rogers who preceded in death June 7, 1990. Mr. Winnick is survived by the following children: Ronald F. Colyer and wife, Peggy of Carlisle; Jennifer Shingler and husband, William of Red Lion; Sharon Hlavaty and husband, Michael of Cleona; Denece Kemp and husband, Terence of Columbus OH and Sylvia Brown and husband, James of RD, Blairs Mills. There are 13 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren alsosurvive. He is survived by two sisters and one brother: Hazel Winnick of Ardenheim; Earl Winnick of Bowling Green, OH and Zelda Kutlenios of Florida. Mr. Winnick is preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Leroy and Lloyd and two sisters: Grace Leggens and Betty Bair. He retired from D.W. Miller, Inc., Huntingdon. Mr. Winnick was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. Mr. Winnick had attended the Rockhill Church of the Brethren. He was a member of Madden-Wennick Post 518; American Legion, Rockhill Furnace and a life member of Blue Juniata Post 5754 VFW, Mount Union.
