Winters, a lifetime resident of Birmingham, died Thursday, June 13, 1957, at Shirleysburg, after an extended illness. He was born April 21, 1893, at Birmingham, the son of William John and Ida (Zimmerman) Winters. He leaves his step-mother, Mrs. Agnes Winters; one brother, Elsworth M. of Altoona; two step-brothers, Samuel W. of Birmingham and Jesse S. of South Line, Mich., and two step-sisters, Mrs. Hattie Nixon of Altoona and Miss Anna Marie Winter of Birmingham. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Co. of Tyrone. He was employed by the Grier School of Birmingham for the past 30 years. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Johnson funeral home in Tyrone in charge of the Rev. John T.T. Cummings and the Rev. Deemar. Interment in Blair Memorial Cemetery. Friends are being received at Johnson funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
