G. B. McKee assisted by Rev. J. R. Davies. She was the aunt of Mrs. J. M. Harper, and S. W. Barr of this place, and Rev. J. C. Barr of Dillsburg, York Co. Newell Varner of this place is a son of the deceased. Mrs. Work made her home with her step-daughter Mrs. Hannah Callen, and it was at the latter lady's home that she passed away Sunday morning. The deceased was married three times, her husbands having been John Ray, David Varner, and Alexander Work, all of whom are dead. She was the mother of thirteen children, three of whom are living. They are: Newell Varner of Tyrone, Mrs. N. A. Griffin (?) of Butler county, and Mrs. Tamer Varner of Armstrong county. She became a member of the Presbyterian church at the age of eighteen while living in Clarion county, and since had been an exemplary Christian woman. She was afterwards connected with the Protestant Methodist church, and since removing to Warriorsmark valley twenty-five years ago she had been a member of the United Brethren church. The Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., July 31 1890 Note: checking all the censuses from 1830 to her death, there are only 6 children (3 with John Ray/Wray, 3 with David Varner and none with Alexander Work. I suspect that the 13 children mentioned in the obituary are children from the first wives of David Varner and Alexander Work. 1880 Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County census - Alexander Work, 79 Jane Work, 75 Hannah Callan, 37 Josiah Callan, 17 This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/
