Orange Blossoms - A Brilliant Affair. Huntingdon Furnace occasionally has an occurrence to break the monotony of farm life and give a fragrance to its existence; so it occurred this week. On Wednesday evening, at 8 o'clock, was the occasion of the marriage of Miss Kate Spangler and Rev. George W. Stroup, which was consummated at the residence of the bride's parents. The affair was a brilliant one in every respect, the bride being one of our beautiful and accomplished young ladies. The attendants were G. D. Blair, Esq., Miss Phoebe Fetterhoof, Mr. G. W. Spangler and Miss Jennie Williams. There were one hundred and twenty invitations, or cards, and fully one hundred couples to witness the ceremony performed by Rev. Devon, assisted by Rev. Bathersby. After the congratulations by all in attendance to the happy pair supper was announced, and indeed it would be merely an attempt to try to describe the table, which was ladened with all kinds of poultry, oranges, pine apples, a huge cake, raisins, ice cream, lemonade, apples, and everything the market could produce. Above and between the tables were two beautiful evergreen wreaths. All enjoyed the delicacies hugely. The presents to the bride were numerous and substantial. One we mention, of a beautiful and costly Mason and Hamlin organ, from his father. Mr. and Mrs. Stroup leave Thursday morning on a wedding tour north, with the well wishes of all. The amusements were kept up until 11 o'clock, when the guests dispersed, being satisfied that Mr. and Mrs. Spangler know fully how to conduct a wedding party to the entire satisfaction of all.
