Ruger, Justice of the Peace of Indiana County, by Margaret Hopkins of Banks Township, mother of William Hopkins, botn July 5, 1886. My son is 13 years of age last January. He is addicted to the use of highly profane language and is of a vicious and incorrigible nature. I am married but my husband has deserted me last February and since that time I have been supported by the Overseers of the Poor of Banks Township, Indiana County, Pa. John C. Cameron, aged 60, of Banks Twp. deposes: I have been acquainted with William Hopkins since his infancy. Vicious, incorrigible, addicted to profane language, a menace to the community. He frequently accosts persons on the road, will call them all kinds of profane names and stone them. Mrs. Irvin Neal, aged 27, married, living in Banks Twp. deposes that William has attacked and stoned children when they were passing on the highway and also stoned the neighbors' property. Additional Comments: Notes made upon the boy's arrival at the Pennsylvania Reform School at Morganza, Pa.: William Hopkins, #5740, Division B. See brother's statement 5741. Sent here for disobedience. Description: Height 4' 7", weight 75 pounds. Red hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion; some freckled. Large scar on left knee. Age: 13 on July 5, 1899; received Aug. 15, 1899. Born: Penna. of American parentage. Baptist. Neither parent intemperate; parents own no property. 3 older brothers, 4 younger brothers. 1 younger sister. Illiterate. Swears, uses tobacco. Does not lie, steal. Is not intemperate.
