He was born May 15, 1755. His birth was recorded in German in his father's Bible which he gave to Conrad Shuey, the husband of his niece. John Kinter enlisted in 1777 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in Captain James Clark's company. He served again in 1778 and 1779 and in 1780 he went into service as a substitute for his brother, Peter Kinter, who had been drafted. He died April 29, 1836. His widow, Isabella Findley Kinter, applied for pension in 1836 when she was 82 years of age and therefore born in 1754. She was married to John Kinter in August, 1782, in Lancaster County by Rev.
