Joe Forsha Receives Award Capt. Joseph E. Forsha, of Blairsville. Pa., has just recently been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The citation in part reads as follows: "For extraordinary achievement while serving as first pilot on a B-24 airplane on many bombardment missions over enemy occupied continental Europe. The courage. coolness. and exceptional skill displayed by Lt. Forsha on all these occasions reflects the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States." Capt. Forsha has flown thirty-one missions over the continent, participating in attacks on Bremen, Kiel, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Munich, Hamburg, Wismar, Hamm, Saarbruken, Oschersleben, Ludwigshaven, Hannover, and military installations in support of the Allied ground forces now fighting in Germany. He is a member of Col. A. W. Reed's 491st heavy Bombardment Group of the 2nd Bombardment Division, commanded by Maj. Gen. William E. Kepner. Capt. Forsha has been in the Army three years. He received his wings and commission at Lubbock, Texas, and completed his combat training at Ft. Worth, Texas: Tuscon, Arizona: Blythe, California. and Pueblo, Colorado. His wife, Mrs. Betty McCrea Forsha and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Forsha, live at 162 West Chestnut Street, Blairsville. Pa.
