Born Sept. 15, 1927, in Rayne Township, he was the son of Merle J. and Ruth Putt Adams. Mr. Adams was a life member of the Laurel Swamp Union Church. He served in Company B, Third Chemical Motor Battalion of the U.S. Army during the Korean Con- flict. He was a coal miner and a member of UMWA District 2 of Ebensburg. Mr. Adams was a life member of the Keystone Horse Pull Associa- tion, was a Pine Township supervi- sor and a member of the Pine Wave CB Club. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Taylor Adams, Heilwood, whom he married on June 5, 1953; four daugh- ters, Swanda and Kimberly Adams, Heilwood; Mrs. Barry (Tammy) Stiffey, Saltsburg; and Mrs. James (Bonnie) Barley, Clymer; three grandchildren, Barry Jr. and Kor- rey Stiffey, Saltsburg; and Shannon Baxley, Clymer; four brothers, Mer- ritt, Marion Center; Franklin, Pal- estine, W.Va.; Albert, Indiana RD 6; and Dale, Mercer; five sisters: Ida Adams, Sue Hile and Mrs. Robert (Martha) Truitt, all of Indiana; Blanche Hockenberry, Tennessee, and Nancy Willover, Guatemala; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Watson. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harry J. Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Peter Alferia will officiate. Interment will be in the Laurel Swamp Union Cemetery, Clymer RD 2.
