Archie Bathgate Boone, 74, of 163 N. Spring St., Blairsville, died unexpectedly
on Wednesday at his residence. He was the owner of the Boone Motor Co.,
Blairsville, for 35 years. Born in Coalport, Pa., Feb. 17, 1898, he was the son
of the late William and Annie Bathgate Boone. He was a member of the United
Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, where he served as a trustee for six years;
the Coalport Lodge No. 574 F. and A. M.; Tall Cedar of Lebanon Westmoreland
Forest; Travelers Club, Blairsville; New Castle Consistory; Blairsville Kiwanis
Club, and was a charter member of the Blairsville Borough Authority. Surviving
are his widow, Mrs. Mayme Johns Boone; a son, Richard G. of New Alexandria R. D.
1; a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. (Elizabeth) Mellen of Warren, Pa.; four
grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. Charles G. Boone of Norfolk, Va. Family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 on Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on
Friday at the Richard K. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville. Services will be
held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Walter I,. Wenhold
officiating. Interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery.
