Camerdese Beattie, 76, of Indiana, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at the Indiana Hospital. Born in Homer City on Sept. 29, 1921, she was the daughter of Pas- quale and Mary Veltri Camerdese. Mrs. Beattie had lived all of her life in the Ernest and Indiana area where she was a member of the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catho- lic Church. She was a member of the CD of A and the Legion of Mary. She was one of the original volunteers at the Alice Paul House. Prior to her retirement Mrs. Beat- tie had been employed as a secre- tary to the administrator of the Indiana Hospital and was also a secretary to Dr. Joseph W. Gatti until his retirement. Surviving are her husband of 56 years Richard M. Beattie; four sons, James C. and wife Lynne, Phoenix, Md.; Richard P. and wife JoAnn, Winterhaven, Fla.; Timothy R. and wife Carol Snow, Laurel, Md.; and Thomas Beattie and wife Linda, Baltimore; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren ; one daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Doug- lass, Indiana, and one sister, Geneva George, Cleveland, Ohio. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Robin- son-Lytle's in Indiana where a par- ish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Bernard Church with interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bernards Church.
