We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ________________________________________________________________________ From the Brownton Minn. newspaper Researched by Jean Bohannan BEATTY, Rebeccah (Mrs. Hiram Alden ) Died, May 4th, 1909, at Brownton, Rebecca Alden, formerly Rebecca Beatty She was born in Indiana county, Pennsylvania, July 29th, 1836. Came west with her father and brothers in 1855 to Illinois and in the spring of 1857 came to Minnesota, settling on a farm one mile south of Arlington, where her father died in 1860. Was united in marriage to Hiram Alden August 6th, 1867. He having died seven years ago, she was left a widow. Four children were born to them of whom three are living, Mrs. Emma Gibson, William and Ella Alden, all of this village. Wilbur departed this life three years ago. Those left to mourn her death besides the three children are eleven grand children. Deceased was a good Christian mother, always interested in the welfare of others. Funeral services were held Thursday from the Congregational Church, of which she was a member, services being conducted by Rev. T. A. Hawkes of Brownton and Rev. James Earl of Minneapolis. Many floral offerings were presented and the casket was handsomely decorated by the flag of the L. of G.A.R., of which she was a member.
