June 29, 1945 MRS. ANNA MINERVA BENCE 653 Chestnut street, passed away in her late home this morning at 3:15 o'clock. She was a daughter of David A. and Mary Ann (Long) Short and was born December 23rd 1860, in Tanoma, Rayne Township. After leaving Tanoma, Mrs. Bence made her home in Dixonville, moving to Indiana twenty years ago. She was a devoted member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Indiana and took an active part in all its organization activities. She was a member of the local Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Indiana Chapter No. 299 Order of the Eastern Star. The deceased was a woman of outstanding character and ever ready to lend a helping hand to any in distress or trouble. Her home and family were her chief joy and her devotion to them was an example to all who new her. She was first married to Joseph A. Fyock of Purchase Line and after his death was united in marriage to James Bence, also deceased. She is survived by the following children by her first marriage: Henry L. Fyock, Haddon Heights, N.J.; Mrs. A.T. (Mabel) Cox, Indiana, and Mrs. J.S. (Mary) Gilhousen, Home, PA. One son survives by her second marriage: Clarence D. Bence, Marion Center, and the following step-children: H.E. Bence and Charles L. Bence, Indiana, John L. Bence, Penn Run; J. Luther Bence, Dixonville; and Mrs. Genevieve B. Wayman, Lakeland, Florida. Nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Harvey Deyanmin of Rayne Township, also survive. Friends will be received at the Robinson Funeral Home after 2:00 o'clock Saturday. Services will be conducted in the funeral home Monday afternoon in 2:00 o'clock. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
