The son of Michael and Mary Rebovich Bender, he was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Homer City. He was a member of St. Louis Church of Lucernemines. Mr. Bender was a member of Club Savoy, Homer City; VFW Post 1989, Indiana; American Legion Post 493, Homer City; and Teamsters Union 205, Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European, African and Middle East- ern campaigns as a memeber of the medical technician and military po- lice detachments. He was retired as a route sales- man for Farmers Delight Dairy, Leechburg. Surviving are his wife, Helen Ros- er Bender, Homer City, and these children: Bonnie and husband Thomas Craft; Tina, married to Timothy McAdoo, both of Homer City; Patti and husband Randall George, Indiana RD 1; Nicholas, married to Luanne Andrie, Wil- liamsport; and Scott Bender and his friend, Karie Kuchcinski, Pitts- burgh; and these grandchildren: Carrie Craft George,Ben, Jodi and Tim McAdoo; Nina Bender McMul- len, Jaclyn and Meghan Bender; Abby, Alicia and Lindsey George; two brothers, Mike Bender and wife Jean, Palmyra, Va., and Edward Bender and wife Betsy, Johnstown; two sisters, Catherine Timura, Pitts- burgh, and Mary married to Roman Castellani, Homer City; and serval nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Joseph. Friends will be received today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the C. Fredrick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, where a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. Friday in St. Louis Church, Lucerne- mines, with Father James Goldberg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Homer City American Legion post and Indiana VFW post will conduct graveside military rites.
