Crushed under a huge lump of slag, Harry Dias, aged 48, of Blacklick, was fatally
injured, at the old McKinney Steel Furnaces, near Josephine, this morning. After
receiving first aid attention, he was rushed to the Indiana hospital, where his
death occurred at 11;30 o'clock. Mr. Dias was employed as a laborer for the Buffalo
Slag Company, of DuBois, which is engaged in taking away slag from the yards of the
McKinney Company, which was abandoned a number of years ago. There were many piles
of slag in the yard, which workmen were engaged in removing, when a large lump of
slag started rolling down one of the piles and crushed Dias under it.
