Caldwell EMAIL: msc@juno.com DATE: Jan 02, 1999 SURNAMES: DICKSON, DIXON James A. Dickson. James A. Dickson, aged about 62 years, died Friday at his home in Philadelphia. The deceased was a traveling dry goods salesman for the Young, Smythfield Company, of Philadelphia, and is well known all over the western part of the state. He was a son of the late Samuel Dickson, Sr., and was born and reared at the old Dickson homestead at Twolick. At the outbreak of the Civil war he joined the army and served in it until the conclusion of hostilities. About 30 years ago he went into the employ of the Young, Smythfield Company, and has been connected with that firm ever since. About a year ago, the deceased suffered a slight stroke, and had not been on the road since, but has been employed in the home office of the company. His death was very sudden so far as is known. His friends in this community did not even know he was ill. The first word concerning his death was received Saturday morning by telegraph. The deceased had four sisters and two brothers, all of whom are now dead excepting one brother, Samuel, of Twolick. The remains were brought to Indiana on Monday, a representative of Young, Smythfield Co., accompanying them. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. George S. Holmes conducting the service in the M.E. church.
