S. d'Invilliers, chief engineer of construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company's lines in Western Pennsylvania, burgess of Cresson, vice president of the Cresson Bank, and the instigator of many improvements in and about Cresson, died of pneumonia at his home there on Sunday aged 68 years. Mr. d'Invilliers was one of the famous Collins expedition that went to Brszil for the purpose of building the Maderia & Mamore Railroad. On this expedition, Mr. d'lnvilliers first, was principal assistant to the chief engineer and later was made chief. This expedition attracted a number of Indiana men, several of whom are dead, one, John D. Ferguson, dying some months ago. Other members of the party were: George Heitner, Henry Jacoby, John Kerr, William Ellis, Price Hildebrand, Martin Hasinger, Edward and James Stewart, who went from Indiana; Harry Kinports, of Cherrytree; Freeman Wilkinson, of Blairsville, and James T. Young, of Johnstown. When Mr. d'lnvilliers returned to America in 1879, he again entered the service of the P.R.R. and was placed in charge of the construction of the Baltimore & Potomac Railroad from Frederick Road to Ellicott City. Later he was transferred to the western part of the State, looking after the building of the Conemaugh Division. He was then placed in charge of all the lines in Western Pennsylvania.
