Delos "Dutch" Fairman, 80, Fairfax, Va., formerly of Indiana, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, of cardiac arrest at Commonwealth Care Cen- ter, Fairfax, Va. He was the oldest son of 10 chil- dren (five brothers and five sisters) of the late James R. and Jessie Flo Fairman. He was born on the family farm in Indiana. Mr. Fairman was an active mem- ber of the Walker Chapel United Methodist Church, Arlington, Va., with 53 years of perfect attendance. He graduated from Indiana High School in 1932. He was a farmer, logger, road construction worker and helped with the clean-up of the Johnstown Flood in the spring of 1936. He later worked on the construction of Indiana Uni- versity of Pennsylvania. He relocat- ed to Arlington, Va., in 1939 and worked in construction for two years. He then made his career in the hardware store business for 53 years, moving to Fairfax, Va., in 1948. Surviving are three brothers: 1,. Eugene, Arlington, Va.; Edward L., Centreville; and Charles R., Crozet, Va., eight nephews and five nieces. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Everly Funeral Home, Fairfax, Va. Friends will also be received at the Walker Chapel United Methodist Church, Arlington, Va., from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, at which time a funeral service will be held.
