Gearhart, 80, of Black Lick, (formerly of Blairsville) died Monday, Feb. 7, 1983, in Indiana Hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1902, in Jefferson County, a son of the late John and Emma (Heitzenrater) Gearhart. A member of the Free Methodist Church, Black Lick, he formerly was employed by Indiana Hospital, retiring in 1972. Surviving are his wife, Sara M. Confer Gearhart; three sons, Lee, of Denver, Colo., James, of Arlington, Texas, and the Rev. Bruce Gearhart, of Harrisburg; one daughter, Mrs. Morris (Jane) Houck of Irwin; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. Wednesday in Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Alfred P. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
